Derek Smoot, the owner and designer for Dapper Industries and founder of the Dapper Factory had a vision, not only to create a hub that would bring awareness for local designers and provide for better quality control of the making of his products for Dapper Industries, but to alleviate the need to outsource manufacturing, keeping sales revenue in the state of Nevada.

“Las Vegas thrives on style, high fashion and class. I wanted to create a home for local fashion brands to showcase their talent and add some flare to the Las Vegas retail district. I couldn’t feel more thrilled about the dynamic new clients we’re servicing and our ever-present capacity for growth,” says Smoot.

The opening of the Dapper Factory is an extension of the vision of the Vegas Fashion Project and The Las Vegas Fashion Design Council, both acknowledged by the City of Las Vegas and endorsed by the Office of Mayor Goodman. The seven designers whose looks were featured in the fashion show and whose produce is available for purchase in the showroom of The Dapper Factory include:

Of these designers, all are members of the Vegas Fashion Project, with David Tupaz, Derek Smoot, Wanda Merritt also founders in addition to Josh Dismond of Dismond Beats and Carl Magno, CEO of V-Asian TV.

The Dapper Factory is the first and only garment manufacturing company in Las Vegas offering custom tailoring, bridal wear, sportswear, formal wear, swimwear, uniforms, leather and “cut and sew.” Opened by Derek Smoot and with generous guidance, mentorship and contributions from expert celebrity haute women’s couture designer David Tupaz, it features a showroom storefront for local designers to showcase and sell an exclusive selection of locally-made fashion. The Dapper Factory proudly hosts all Made-in-USA women’s and men’s fashion wear and accessories as well as women’s athletic apparel and jewelry. They also manufacture bulk garments for casinos and private designers alike.

The event included a runway show with gorgeous models strutting the catwalk with looks from seven local designers, and a surprise finale performance from Freakshow, a dance troupe from San Diego.  TC’s world famous BBQ Rib Crib served up southern-style BBQ to party-goers with proceeds benefitting the Fashion Hope Charity.
